The Fathom Trolling Lance hook has a larger profile and a thicker wire gauge used for all types of trolling lures / hooksets where you are not using bait (however, this has become a favorite hook for swordfish rigging due to its strong thick wire). The long shank ballyhoo hooks are overall smaller and used for rigging ballyhoo. The thin wire of the Ballyhoo hook allows for easier rigging of bait without the damage that would be caused by a larger wire gauge. Answer:

We do NOT recommend heat shrinking mono connections. Generally speaking, the heat shrink is to cover the cable tag end that can be sharp and abrasive, and or to cover and seal cable connections. We do however recommend chafe protection on mono leaders, as well as burning the tag end.

They do. All our chafe tube, shrink tube and hook locks come packaged in a resealable plastic storage tube.

What is the recommended heat source to shrink the tubing.

We use a standard heat gun found at your local hardware store, and it only takes a second or two of applied heat to reduce down. You can use a torch, but you need to be careful not to burn the tubing and do not touch the flame to the shrink tube.

The bundle includes the photographed lure skirts in those colors and quantities. We don't offer substitutions in this bundle, however these skirt colors can be purchased individually by calling the office at 910-399-6882.

the 7/0 shank is 1.75 inches, the 8/0 and 9/0 shanks are 2 inches. The difference between the 8/0 and 9/0 shanks are the throat of the hook -- the 9/0 has a bigger throat, with more clearance between tip and shank.
