Trolling speeds for Wahoo vary greatly. From dead bait speeds of 5-7knts to high speed trolling of 12-24knts+. For this pack we recommend 10-16knts. Most of our pre-rigged trolling lure packs are designed to be pulled as-is with no bait. All of our trolling lures are tuned and engineered to give you the best performance as a stand alone lure. The Wahoo Allstar pack does include 2 Jimmy Rig lures that are cable rigged for Ballyhoo, but this Wahoo High speed pack is intended to be run as is.

These Torpedo lanterns are super versatile. You can pull them on the surface by attaching them directly to your mainline. They can also be pulled sub surface on a trolling lead and shock leader setup, or even on a planer depending on speed.

This lure weighs in right at 14oz un-rigged. It can be trolled at high speeds, however it has a concave nose so its intended to swim on the surface and occasionally pop and expel a bubble trail. Too much speed without any weight will cause the lure to skip on the surface.

We get a lot of feedback when it comes to colors for Wahoo and other offshore Pelagics like Mahi, Tuna, and Marlin. We take all this into account when releasing new products that are tailored to a particular species; thus all of our colors have been proven effective. However, if you have specific questions on an area or geographic location, be sure to call us at 910-399-6882 and we can offer some suggestions based off current trends we are seeing. NOTE: One of the best ways to get an up to date idea of trending colors is to speak to local charter captains and tackle shops in your area, as this info changes often seasonally or even daily/weekly.

The pre-rigged Wahoo chain can be pulled at trolling speeds of 6-16knts as is. If you're looking to increase the speed into the 20knt range, you may need to add line distance and/or increase weight via trolling bar to keep the chain subsurface.

Our Torpedo lanterns are designed to be pulled as is with no bait. They include two egg sinkers hidden within two skirts and a cable rigged stainless steel double hookset. However, the torpedo itself can be rigged a ton of different ways, many include dead bait. We offer the Torpedo (Jimmy Rig) which is rigged on a cable ballyhoo rig that's perfect for Wahoo. We also sell the Torpedo individually so you can rig it to your preference.

Our Torpedo Lanterns are intended to be pulled as is without bait or ballyhoo. The Lanterns contain two skirts, with two lead egg sinkers contained within. Rigged on 4' of stainless cable leader with a stainless double hookset. We do sell our pre-rigged torpedo Jimmy rigs, this is cable rigged ballyhoo setup for Wahoo.

As a standard our double hookset is considered 180° (front hook up, back hook down) however, we are able to rig these in 0° configuration (both hooks facing the same way.) If you are referring to the chain only section without the lure, we can sell it that way by calling 910-399-6882. However the rigged trolling lure is removable via the snap swivel inside the last squid if you are wanting to change it out.

When trolling either the medium or the x-large lure, do I need to add a trolling weight?

No, you don't have to add a trolling weight with the SR71 for trolling, even at moderate to high speeds. However, there are several variables here: the faster you go, or closer you run the lure, you may want to. As long as the lure isn't skipping or launching out of the water, you are fine.
