The bird is more purple and the mini skirt duster is both, Pink head, pink and purple mylar hair.

Answer:

The agitator bar is very versatile in what you can rig behind it. It really depends on target species, ive run spoons, ballyhoo and lures behind mine with great success. My personal favorite is the Double O in either Extra Small or Small depending on target species. If im looking for smaller dolphin and Blackfin go with XS. Larger Mahi I go with the small.

Do you want to keep the same or similar color scheme of the attached lure as the agitator bar?

Answer:

That's a great question, and if you ask 100 different Captains you may get 99 different answers. Its a personal preference. Typically we would run a similar color, as to make it appear as if it simply fell behind the school. However, some also suggest running a different color makes the trailer stand out, and is more likely to get hit. Or, appearing as if the school is being chased, eliciting a feeding response. We've had good success with both on the agitator bar.

does this lure have a lead insert in the head ?

Answer:

The ECM or (epic) squids do not have lead inside the head. They are hollow skirts similar to a bulb squid. A lot of customers do put lead egg sinkers in the heads when making lures etc.

Mini Skirt Duster Length

The length of the mini skirt is approx 3.5" when the hair is laid back as it would swim. 7.5" in diameter when sitting flat on a table. Currently this is the only size we offer, but a larger size is a great idea and I will pass it along to the team for review.

Answer:

Since its a low drag surface teaser, the Agitator bird bar can be used on relatively light tackle if needed (TLD 20 class). However, it really comes down to the lure you are putting on the back of the bar. Its rigged on 150# mono, so pair your rod/reel to the chosen lure or bait as opposed to the bird bar itself.

will this handle bluefin? specificly like 40-60 inch ones if anyone has any experience with them on bigeye

Our 5" agitator bars are rigged on 150# mono and should be sufficient for medium sized tuna. However, we do offer the 7" version that is rigged on 12' of 250# mono with upgraded swivels and terminal for larger more aggressive fish.

Yes, the Agitator bar is perfect for catching Bonito and other Tuna such as Blackfin and schooly Yellowfin. If you are specifically targeting Bonita, we would recommend attaching a Half Pint Double O pre rigged lure to the back of the bar. This lure can be found HERE.

Answer:

The Fathom Offshore Agitator bar is extremely versatile, and can be fished from almost any position. The angled wings force the bird to skitter on the surface, so line angle from an outrigger isn't as important as it may be for other lures. We have run the bar from a flat line, both rigger positions, and the shotgun all with great success. My personal preference is short rigger, I find the action of the bird acts almost as a teaser as well as a rigged bait, increasing the attention of all the lures in the spread.

The Agitator bars do not come with a bag in order to keep the cost to our customers as low as possible. We do sell a small dredge bag for those who are looking for a storage solution. This bag is perfect for both the 5" and 7" Agitator bird bars. You can find that SMALL DREDGE BAG here.

Can this be used when high speed trolling?

Answer:

Due to its light weight and action, we do NOT recommend the agitator bar for high speeding. If you're looking for a high speed alternative, we would recommend our WAHOO CHAIN. It still gives a similar squid chain like appearance, but designed to be trolled at higher speeds.

The agitator bar does really well in the 5-9knts range. Perfect for trolling dead bait and artificials / lures for Blackfin.
