For redfish you want to have your boat off bank, and depending on the depth of water will determine your length between the cork and bait.
You want some slack on the line, and when it hits the water pop your rod twice. Sometimes we'll let it sit a few seconds before popping again.
You'll repeat this a few times before casting again or changing your length / slack. If you don't get a good "clunk" then you want more slack.
